The coast at a glance, north to south

  1. Playa Herradura & Los Sueños: a curved bay with a marina, about 10 minutes north of Jacó by road. Most boat trips to Tortuga Island leave from here.
  2. Jacó: the main town beach, about 3 km of dark sand with surf, restaurants and most services.
  3. Playa Hermosa (Garabito): a long, open beach a few minutes south, known for powerful surf.
  4. Esterillos: quieter beaches further south along Route 34.
